Every once in a while, I see an online video of a baby hearing his or her mother’s or father’s voice for the first time after receiving a cochlear implant. In one video, a mother cradles her baby in her arms. She speaks, the baby’s binky falls out of his mouth, and the little one smiles broadly. In that one moment, we see not only the beauty and hope that is life, but the beauty and hope that is science.

Abortion and the Reconstruction of the Family Unit

How many hands besides the hand of Nature should enter into the creation of a family? There is the mother and there is the father, and at the end of the day, (at the risk of taking his words out of context and placing them in a broader ideological context once again) Obama shouldn’t be able to knock them down by saying, “You didn’t build that!” and re-attributing the creation of a family to a government that supports eugenics and abortion as part of that creative process.
