Director of Legislative Affairs
Jessica was born and raised in Springfield, Ohio where she was homeschooled with her four younger siblings. Her mother, Kathrin Koehler, is a Psychologist and on the board of the Springfield Pregnancy Resource Clinic. Her father, Kyle Koehler, is the State Representative for the 79th district. She graduated from Thomas Edison State University with a BA in Communications. While studying, she traveled with a team of students to Taiwan for a month to teach children.
In high school, she developed a passion for politics though her involvement with TeenPact Leadership Schools, both as a student and as a staffer. She also volunteered on several political campaigns by knocking doors and making phone calls.
After completing her degree, she interned with Leadership Institute, teaching across the country with the Youth Leadership School program based in Arlington, VA. Following that, she ran her dad’s primary campaign – winning a three-way race in which they were outspent five to one – and then his general campaign, where they won 61% of the vote.
After the campaign, Jessica worked at the Ohio State Senate for Senator LaRose as a Legislative Aide for a year and a half. She oversaw all scheduling, constituent correspondence, clerked committee and was responsible for all office communication and organization.
Currently, she is very involved with Awaken Church, located in the Victorian Village area, where she volunteers and invests in the local community alongside her friends. In her free time, she enjoys playing ultimate frisbee, painting, and having friends over for cookouts.
