Life WON on the Cross!

“But He was pierced for our transgressions; He was crushed for our iniquities; upon Him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with His wounds we are healed.”

Isaiah 53:5

Jesus is Risen! Happy Easter weekend, and may it be a beautiful and humble reminder of God’s steadfast love and the unchangeable truth that life WON on the cross when Jesus rose from the dead!

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

Over 2000 years ago, on the cross, Jesus defeated sin and death by rising from the grave so that we might have eternal life. The gospel message brings life to the spiritually dead and gives sight to the spiritually blind. God’s only begotten Son paid the costly fine for our sins to make salvation possible through faith in Christ alone. What is known as the great exchange took place. As John Piper explains, “Our sins are laid on Christ and his righteousness is laid on us.” (2 Corinthians 5:21) This, of course, is the reality for all who believe in Jesus for the forgiveness of their sins.

Amen!

God prevailed, as He always does and always will, including today in our culture’s battles. The days between the death and resurrection of Christ were dark and daunting for the disciples. Their messiah had just been killed, and they were left seemingly defeated. However, three days later, they discovered that God was with them all along and Jesus was not defeated. Instead, He conquered death itself!

Let us remember this truth as we fight for life today. God is always working, even amid the darkness. Even when it seems like the enemy is winning, God is still at hand and is in control. God has already won on our behalf.

“Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.” 1 Corinthians 15:58

Every human life, born and preborn, is fearfully and wonderfully made, and every life formed in their mother’s womb was and is a part of His redemptive plan of the cross. Therefore, we must continue protecting the lives of the unborn. We must defend the defenseless.

As you celebrate the finished work of the cross this Easter weekend, remember to remain encouraged and continue on, knowing that Jesus has already overcome the world!
