Grassroots Campaign Will Mobilize Pro-Life Ohioans to Protect Religious Freedom

(COLUMBUS) - Today, the Ohio Right to Life Society, in conjunction with National Right to Life, announced one of the largest statewide grassroots initiatives to mobilize Ohio Catholics. Recently, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops announced a national "Fortnight for Freedom," for prayer, reflection and education on religious liberty, starting June 21 through July 4.

National Right to Life has engaged Ohio Right to Life and created educational literature with a special message from Timothy Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of New York and Donald Cardinal Wuerl, Archbishop of Washington. The literature also educates Ohioans about the specific positions taken by both President Obama and Governor Mitt Romney regarding religious freedoms and the HHS Mandate.

"This statewide initiative is critical to the ultimate goal of overturning the HHS Mandate and protecting life," said Mike Gonidakis, President of Ohio Right to Life. "We are calling on all Catholics and pro-life volunteers to join us in this strategic opportunity. Together, we will ensure that Washington hears Ohio declare our support for religious freedom and life." 

This new campaign will consist of hundreds of thousands of educational literature pieces. (Above is an example of the front and back of the piece.)

Next Friday afternoon, June 8, Rallies for Religious Freedom will be held in Columbus, Cincinnati, Dayton and Toledo. We need volunteers at the rallies who can help us distribute these educational pieces.
