Introduction Abortion ends a pregnancy by destroying and removing the developing child either in utero or while the child is being born (Partial Birth Abortion). Abortion is an act of violence that kills an unborn child and hurts the mother who has one. Since 1973, when the United States Supreme Court Roe v. Wade decision legalized abortion for all nine months of a woman's pregnancy for any reason, at least 47 million unborn children have been killed legally by the violence of abortion. According to a report on 2005 abortions, this violence occurs 1.2 million times a year (well over 3,200 times a day) in America.

Do you know what time of year most abortions occur?
(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Ohio Right to Life has acquired vital information regarding the number of abortions taking place, now by month and zip code. A monthly breakdown is not something normally included in annual abortion reports. However, it may provide information that could be useful in efforts to provide alternatives to abortion. For example, the data shows that the highest number of abortions occurred in the months of February and March. The month with the highest number of abortions statewide was March with 3,085 resident abortions. The second highest month was February with 2,971. Despite the natural urge of many pro-lifers to “take a break” after the large number of pro-life activities related to the January 22nd anniversary of Roe v. Wade; February and March are when increased efforts are needed to provide local counseling and to promote and advertise the services available at Pregnancy Help Centers. The lowest number resident abortions occurred in November. However, even in that month, 2,281 Ohio children lost their lives in abortion facilities. The zip code breakdown allows you to determine whether your local area experiences highs or lows at different times compared to other regions in the state.
