Late-Term Abortionist Funds David Pepper’s Bid for AG

Ohio Right to Life Calls Out Pepper for Accepting “Blood Money”

COLUMBUS, Ohio–Recently, Ohio Right to Life discovered that abortionist Martin Haskell made a financial campaign contribution to David Pepper, Planned Parenthood’s endorsed pro-choice candidate for Ohio Attorney General. Responsible for popularizing the now banned partial-birth abortion technique, Haskell is an abortion provider at two abortion clinics in Southwest Ohio, one of which he has been medical director for over 35 years.

Martin Haskell & David Pepper“Pepper is taking money that either directly or indirectly is derived from the abortion of Ohio’s babies,” said Katherine McCann, public relations manager at Ohio Right to Life. “Haskell’s income is blood money, and it is now fueling a campaign for one of the most powerful offices in the state of Ohio. His contribution works out to just over the average cost of one abortion in the U.S.–$500. Who had to die so that Haskell could make this contribution?”

Currently, Haskell’s clinic, Lebanon Road Surgery Center, is in the middle of an administrative hearing by the State of Ohio for violating state laws regarding variances. The Ohio Attorney General is responsible for choosing the defense in the hearing. In the fall of 2012, the Director of the Ohio Department of Health proposed revocation of the clinic’s license due to their inability to ensure care in cases of medical emergency and their failure to keep ODH informed of changes in their variance. Oral arguments for the hearing begin June 30 in the Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas.

“Ohioans, especially pro-life Ohioans, proudly support Mike DeWine in his re-election bid for Ohio’s Attorney General this fall,” said McCann. “We thank him for doing his job, holding abortion clinics accountable, protecting religious freedom, battling human trafficking, and closing pill mills throughout our state.”

Ohio Right to Life discovered that abortionist Martin Haskell not only made contribution to David Pepper’s campaign but he also made a significant contribution of $3,450 to pro-choice state treasurer candidate, Representative Connie Pillich, of Montgomery County. Pillich currently represents the district that contains Haskell’s clinic.
