Unborn Child Dignity Act

Unborn Child Dignity Act

S.B. 254 & H.B. 417/419

Take Action

Passed by the Ohio Senate - May 25, 2016

Proponent Testimony for H.B. 417/419 heard by House Committee on Health and Aging - January 27, 2016

This legislation would require that aborted fetal remains be treated humanely following an abortion. The legislation is two-pronged. The first part requires that aborted children's remains be either given earthly burial or cremation. The second part is Unborn Dignity Informed Consent, which increases informed consent by requiring full disclosure to women pursuing abortions of their options for the aborted baby's treatment.

Both parts of the legislation are included in S.B. 254 and H.B. 417. H.B. 419 directs the Ohio Department of Health to create a process for how aborted babies are too be buried or cremated.
