COLUMBUS, Ohio– Today, the Supreme Court of the United States agreed to take up Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, a case that challenged Mississippi’s 15 week abortion ban. This marks one of the first major abortion cases the court will hear since it has obtained a pro-life majority.

The following statement may be attributed to Mike Gonidakis, President of Ohio Right to Life:

Ohio Right to Life is grateful that the Supreme Court is taking the opportunity to consider Mississippi’s pro-life law which bans most abortions done on babies after 15 weeks. It is time to end the barbaric practice of abortion in our country. We expect that Justices Thomas, Barrett, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Alito will ultimately overturn Roe v. Wade, a wrongly decided case that has cost millions of lives since 1973.

Ohio Right to Life will continue to work tirelessly to pass our Human Life Protection Act and end abortion in our state. Once signed by Governor DeWine, the potential Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe will trigger our law and finally make our state abortion free. Ohio will be ready for a post-Roe America. Our time is now.

Founded in 1967, Ohio Right to Life, with more than 40 chapters and local affiliates, is Ohio’s oldest and largest grassroots pro-life organization. Recognized as the flagship of the pro-life movement in Ohio, ORTL works through legislation and education to promote and defend innocent human life from conception to natural death.
