COLUMBUS, Ohio— Today, Ohio Right to Life released a statement regarding the recent political attacks on Ohio’s 13th Congressional Candidate, Madison Gesiotto Gilbert. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee released an ad on Monday while Madison was in labor for her first child, specifically attacking her regarding the issue of abortion. Her opponent, Emilia Sykes, also spoke out against Gilbert’s pro-life stances on the same day, stating, “my opponent said the Dobbs decision was ‘one of the greatest legal and moral wins/corrections in the history of the United States.’ She is anti-choice and wants to continue to erase 50 years of established legal precedent.”

“Recent attacks against Madison Gesiotto Gilbert, Ohio Right to Life’s endorsed candidate for Ohio’s 13th Congressional district, demonstrate the extreme position of those who are pro-abortion,” said Ohio Right to Life’s Chief Executive Officer, Peter Range. He continued, “her opponents deliberately attacked Madison on the issue of abortion while she was giving birth to her new son, showing just how callous the pro-abortion left has become.”

Throughout the campaign, Emilia Sykes and the Democratic party have repeatedly made abortion a focal point in their messaging. The Ohio Democratic Party sent mailers attacking Gilbert, calling her “extreme” and accuse her of having a “dangerously backward agenda.” Not shocked by the situation, Range stated, “it should come as no surprise, nonetheless. If the Democratic party and Emilia Sykes believe it is ok to take the life of a child through all nine months of pregnancy, then of course they would attack a woman in labor.”

“In this upcoming election in November, I implore all people of faith, reason, and goodwill to reject the Democratic party and their extreme stance of allowing abortion up to birth,” Range said.

Founded in 1967, Ohio Right to Life, with more than 35 chapters and local affiliates, is Ohio’s oldest and largest grassroots pro-life organization.
