COLUMBUS, Ohio— Today, Ohio Right to Life released its plan for the remainder of the year in response to the overwhelming pro-life victories in the election on November 8th, 2022. Moving forward into 2023, Ohio will retain its pro-life majority in the House, Senate, and the Governor’s office. In addition, Ohio’s Supreme Court will have a pro-life majority beginning January 2023.

Given this information, Ohio Right to Life finds it pertinent to pass legislation by the end of 2022 to effectively end all abortion from conception.

The following statement can be attributed to Ohio Right to Life’s Chief Executive Officer, Peter Range:

“Candidates that support the pro-life cause won convincingly last night here in Ohio despite the left, including President Joe Biden, making abortion the centerpiece of their midterm election strategy. The people of Ohio have spoken clearly. They desire representatives with conservative principles, including the foundational conservative principle: the right to life!

“Moving forward, the pro-life movement must focus on four things here in the state of Ohio:

  1. Pass legislation by the end of this year to protect all innocent human life in the womb, starting at conception.
  2. Help our moms, dads, and babies in need by supporting local pregnancy centers through legislation, financial donations, and volunteering.
  3. Educate all Ohioans on the dignity of the human person, whom their Creator endows with inherent worth and value being made in God’s image and likeness.
  4. Refocus our efforts to strengthen families and marriages to ensure every child conceived is welcomed into a loving home.

“Ohio now is our time! It is our time to save preborn children who are in danger of being aborted. It is our time to help moms, dads, and babies in need. It is our time to educate the state on the dignity of the human person, and it is our time to rebuild the family for a thriving society. Ohio, it is time to abolish abortion and restore our broken culture!”

Founded in 1967, Ohio Right to Life, with more than 35 chapters and local affiliates, is Ohio’s oldest and largest grassroots pro-life organization. Recognized as the flagship of the pro-life movement in Ohio, ORTL works through legislation and education to promote and defend innocent human life from conception to natural death.
