COLUMBUS, Ohio– A questionable study that involved performing multiple abortions on pregnant women was ended at UC Davis recently.

The following statement may be attributed to Stephanie Ranade Krider, Vice President of Ohio Right to Life:
“We are glad to see that this unethical study has come to a halt. The idea that a study was ever approved where the end guarantee was the death of one of the patients without their consent – even if it took multiple efforts – should have been a red flag from the start. Physicians are supposed to work to save lives, not to end them. To have subjected women and their unborn children to this study is at best morally questionable and worst, coercive of these women who no doubt needed support when facing an unplanned pregnancy. Treating women as guinea pigs for the sake of validating the immoral practice of abortion is reprehensible. These women and their unborn children deserved better.”

“Additionally, to assign the adverse effects experienced by their patients to progesterone [as the study’s author’s have done in their public statements], a drug commonly prescribed to prevent miscarriage and preterm labor, is to willfully ignore the facts at hand. Two of the three women cited who experienced heavy bleeding did not even receive progesterone- they received only mifepristone, which is already recognized by the FDA to cause ‘severe bleeding’ that may require hospitalization.”

“Twenty four women have died after taking the mifeprex regimen, while no deaths have ever been reported as a result of progesterone. The abortion industry has no incentive to promote information that may save the life of the baby they have tried to end, which is why Senate Bill 155, the Abortion Pill Reversal Information Act,  is so crucial to getting information into the hands of women who need it.”
