Legislative Day 2016 – A Sweeping Success!

Yesterday, Ohio Right to Life hosted its annual Legislative Day, a day of pro-life advocacy at the Ohio Statehouse. We were both humbled and heartened by the tremendous support we received from families, grassroots leaders, and legislative leadership alike. With a packed house at our luncheon, the day was undoubtedly a sweeping success!

After a morning of legislative training and meetings, Ohio Right to Life had the great honor of being recognized by the Speaker of the Ohio House, Cliff Rosenberger, on the House Floor. Shortly after, Senate President Keith Faber honored us with his presence at our Legislative Day Luncheon. Together, these distinctions stand as an incredible affirmation of the mission of Ohio Right to Life and a testament to the promise of our legislative agenda.

With 17 pro-life laws passed by the Ohio General Assembly and signed by Governor John Kasich over the last five years, we have much to be thankful for and much to look forward to.

At our luncheon, Ryan Wolfe, Disabilities Ministry Pastor at First Christian Church (Canton), provided us with a meaningful invocation, reminding us of Psalm 139’s beautiful lesson that tells us we are fearfully and wonderfully made. (Please click here to watch this inspiring, viral video put together by his ministry in Canton. It will undoubtedly move your heart to action.)

Our keynote speaker, Carissa Carroll, founder of Jack’s Basket, shared her organization’s mission to celebrate every child with Down syndrome. Jack’s Basket provides baskets of resources to hospitals to help welcome babies with Down syndrome into the world, and provide encouragement for new parents. Her speech left us all inspired and rejuvenated, eager to bring similar programs to Ohio!

Friends traveled from Cincinnati, Dayton, Toledo, Cleveland, Youngstown, Canton and many other places to be with us in Columbus. Whether you traveled across the street or across the state to be with us, Ohio Right to Life wants to say thank you. Thank you to the leaders of Ohio Right to Life affiliated chapters. Thank you to the Catholic Diocesan leaders. Thank you to Ohio’s pro-life student leaders. Thank you all for your commitment to protecting and celebrating the life of every child.

We are so sincerely grateful to everyone who joined us with prayerful, earnest, eager hearts. All of your efforts to educate the legislature about your own family experiences, your organizations’ services, and your ministries’ missions will surely go a long way in our efforts to protect the unborn.

Thank you for taking a meaningful stand with us yesterday, and thank you to the many legislators and legislative aides who attended our luncheon and hosted our guests for meetings. Your time means so very much to our staff, our board, our statewide membership, and every human life who now has a chance because you gave them a voice.

As Ohio Right to Life continues to advocate for legislation that protects the right to life of every person, we ask you to continue to pray for our work. Yesterday is proof of how invaluable your prayers, your support, and your time are to the life of our organization.
