2020 Primary Election Voting Now Exclusively Through Mail
To help flatten the curve and reduce the spread of COVID-19, Governor DeWine signed legislation today that ends in-person voting for the 2020 Primary Election and instead, simply extends the mail-in absentee voting period through April 27th.
Here’s what that means for you:
- Already voted by mail or by early voting? Your vote will be counted and no further action is needed.
- Eligible to vote but haven’t yet? You will need to request an absentee ballot to be able to vote. In-person voting will not be able for the general public.
- Need to request an absentee ballot? You can print your absentee ballot request yourself or your local county board of elections can mail one to you. To find and contact your local county’s board of elections, click here.
- Make sure your vote counts! All absentee ballots have to be postmarked on or before Monday, April 27th to your county board of elections in order to be counted.

Pro-Life Protections Included in Federal Coronavirus Relief Legislation
With the passage of the CARES Act today in Congress, there may be concerns as to whether or not the legislation, designed to give millions of Americans a safety net in the midst of this unprecedented crisis, includes pro-life protections to ensure that these dollars don’t go to fund abortion.
The congressional pro-life caucus worked hard to ensure that the following protections were put in place, and that Speaker Pelosi was not able add anything to expand abortion access.
⚬ The small business loan assistance program excludes Planned Parenthood
The CARES Act small business loan assistance program, which offers small businesses and nonprofits with assistance like loans and payroll cost forgiveness, excludes Planned Parenthood from eligibility due to their number of employees. Since the employee threshold of non-profits in the bill is 500, Planned Parenthood, with over 16,000 employees, is excluded.
⚬ The Hyde Amendment is kept intact for all new healthcare dollars.
CARES secures over $100 billion dollars to help hospitals and other health care providers to fight COVID-19, while still ensuring that those funds are protected by the Hyde Amendment. The Hyde Amendment, which has saved countless lives since it was first enacted in 1976, ensures that federal funding can’t be used for elective abortions in nearly all cases.
Thanks to our strong pro-life Senators and Congressmen, the CARES Act protects vulnerable American lives: both the unborn and those effected by COVID-19. We are proud of our Ohio delegation for voting to maintain these pro-life provisions in this important legislation.
